Ludacris Raps for Obama

Ludacris' new rap is a lot like his Yale Spring Fling '06 show: good times, but too offensive for some. His pro-Obama song "Politics (Obama is Here)" calls out Hillary, McCain, Bush, and Jesse Jackson. Obama has distanced himself though calling the rap "offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear." Read the lyrics and watch the video.

"How many of you senators got dirty..."

Oh, luda.

Well, it's a good song, like most of Luda's oeuvre, but I fear that the McCain campaign might have paid him to write it. There's no possible way a song like this could help get Obama's message out. It might even have the opposite effect on stodgy white voters whose support Obama needs.

As far as I understand, Obama already has overwhelming support among black voters, and if Ludacris really wanted to encourage turnout, he could effect a more wholesome persona and campaign for Obama in ways that don't undercut everything he's working for. I mean, the guy has young daughters; how can you possibly expect him to legitimize the song?

On a more positive note, this picture totally reminds me of the one with Luda and Master and Mrs. Smith.
